Well, this is it. Final few days as a graduate trainee. What a year it has been. I couldn’t have asked for a better place to carry out my traineeship; the staff and students of Trinity have been so friendly, and I have gained such great experience this year, I don’t want to leave!
Sadly though, I must, as my successor has already started. We have one overlap week, in which I am passing on to her my knowledge of the library and how everything works. I imagine I’m bombarding her with rather a lot of information at the moment, but hopefully my guidance will stick with her as she begins to put all the training into practice. I wish her the best of luck with her traineeship and hope she enjoys her year here as much as I have enjoyed mine.
I have lots of loose ends to tie up at work, and have been busy making notes and guidance sheets so that my efforts (particularly in preservation) will be continued when I am gone. There is one final trip to the pub this week with the few trainee Librarians who are left in Cambridge, and then I must bid this wonderful city farewell. I’d like to thank all of the trainees and Librarians this year who have my my experience so special and memorable, and I look forward to seeing where we all end up once qualified!
